Esalen Style Bodywork
Esalen style bodywork is the ultimate stress buster. It was developed at the famous Esalen Institute, located on the Pacific Ocean in Southern California and home of so many new forms of body oriented therapies that were developed or fine-tuned in the 1960s and 70s, especially on the basis of the work of Fritz Perls, Wilhelm Reich, Ida Rolf and Milton Trager.
The therapist starts with head and face, which releases the key points where stress is stored. The body is then prepared to receive luxurious and soothing strokes. Overall, Esalen style bodywork unfolds at a slower and more meditative pace than for example Swedish style bodywork.
Special attention is given to lymphatic drainage, which helps to boost the immune system as well as the circulatory system.
